Home visitor (Calcot, nr Reading)
Do you have a little extra time to spare to regularly visit a blind veteran in your local community? Weekly or bi-monthly visits can make a big difference to a veteran who is experiencing loneliness and isolation.
Our 92 year old veteran grew up in the Reading area and completed his National Service in the Royal Artillery in Germany, reaching the rank of Bombardier.
He then served in the Police force for 30 years before his retirement.
Now widowed, his varying interests include gardening, amateur dramatics and reading/talking books.
He would love to have a volunteer visit him regularly to chat with and possibly accompany him on trips out in the local area in the future, if the volunteer is willing.
Through regularly meeting, chatting, listening and engaging with our members, our home visitors make a real difference to each of our members’ lives, helping maintain quality of life and contributing to emotional wellbeing. And they have fun whilst doing the role!
If you think you have the skills, or would like to develop these to undertake the role, please do get in touch.
Full training given, regular co-ordinator support, mileage and out of pocket expenses reimbursed.
