Sports Volunteer (Gym Buddy-Broseley, Shropshire)

Whether it's swimming, hiking, golf or even archery, our blind veterans love getting involved in sports and it's great for their wellbeing! We are looking for a Gym Buddy volunteer to support a blind veteran whilst attending the gym.

As a gym buddy volunteer you will be on hand to make sure that they can fully participate in a safe way. Sometimes this will mean providing descriptions of things where they may not be able to see, or guiding a veteran to help them orientate themselves. For this role, we are looking for volunteers who aren’t afraid to get stuck in, and have experience and an understanding of gym equipment.

Volunteers must be over the age of 18 years and understand the importance of confidentiality and relationship boundaries. The role can be flexible around your other commitments, but we ask that you are reliable and punctual for our veterans. You will be fully trained and supported so you feel comfortable and confident in your volunteering.
