Arts & Crafts (Brighton)
Our aim is that every veteran can find something that they are interested in, learn new skills and have a great time. Since its founding, Blind Veterans has used arts and crafts to give our veterans, not just a creative skill, but confidence in their capability despite their sight loss and an outlet to create. Our arts & crafts department is still a huge hit with our veterans and we need your help to make sure everything runs smoothly and that everyone can get involved.
Sometimes this will mean providing descriptions of things that they may not be able to see or guiding a veteran to help them orientate themselves. For this role, we are looking for volunteers who aren’t afraid to get stuck in and even learn new skills themselves.
Our department is open Monday - Wednesday 10am - 12pm every week for us to run drop-in sessions, with additional support needed outside of these hours. As such we are flexible around your timings as we also have full-time staff to support the department and help make sure you are making the most of your valuable time given to us.
Volunteers must be over the age of 16 years and understand the importance of confidentiality and relationship boundaries. The role can be flexible around your other commitments, but we ask that you are reliable and punctual for our veterans. You will be fully trained and supported so you feel comfortable and confident in your volunteering.
